One Last Dig at Christine O'Donnell

IZZARD: What if someone comes to you in the middle of the Second World War and says, ‘do you have any Jewish people in your house?’ and you do have them. That would be a lie.
.
O’DONNELL: I believe if I were in that situation, God would provide a way to do the right thing righteously. I believe that!
.
MAHER: God is not there. Hitler’s there and you’re there.
.
O’DONNELL: You never have to practice deception. God always provides a way out.

Willkommen in Amerika

I had a run-in with a Philadelphia officer. I was riding my Honda Rebel on Chestnut Street in the lane next to the parked cars, looking for a parking space. An officer, about six inches from my rear wheel, turned on her siren. I literally jumped, and then put my feet on the ground. She yelled at me, "have you made up your mind what you want to do?" I explained I was looking for a place to park, and then said "I apologize if I caused you to be delayed." She yelled, "hurry up," and drove around me.

I've Been Off the Air

I've been off the air the past three days, with severe asthma. In fact, an ambulance was called, and was taken to Pennsylvania Hospital, the nation's oldest. I was released this morning.
.
I'll be back tomorrow, with a column about class warfare.

Tom Lehrer - The Vatican Rag

Before NBC had SNL, the network had something similar with That Was The Week That Was, which aired from 1964–65, and featured a mathematics professor, Tom Lehrer. This is my favorite - enjoy.

Sharron Angle - Christofascist and Batshit Crazy

Right now, the Nevada Senate race between Harry Reid (D - Nevada), and Sharron Angle (Z - Venus) is 50/50.
.
If you thought Christine O'Donnell is certifiable, meet Sharron Angle. Angle was one of the founders of the Independent American Party. You can see her signature on the party petition. Here are actual quotes; her signature is on page 2:
.
- our American Forefathers, steeped in the traditions, values and discipline of Christianity
- a government of law, under God
- That many Americans have ignored the Laws of God
- That our governments sanction abortion - the killing of our posterity
- That these tyrannies are undermining traditional family values
- Article VII of the United States Constitution recognizes Jesus Christ as our Lord
- We support the Liberty Amendment. The Liberty Amendment will compel the Federal Government to halt its unconstitutional programs such as foreign aid and welfare. It will prohibit the financing of the New World Order with American taxes. It will abolish the Marxist graduated income tax, and the fearful IRS. It will transfer public lands in the West to State ownership and control.
.
Anyone recognize the biggest errors? OK, OK - put your hands down. I can only call on one person at a time.
.
- Article VII of the United States Constitution recognizes Jesus Christ as our Lord
Here is what the US Constitution actually states: "The Ratification of the Conventions of nine States, shall be sufficient for the Establishment of this Constitution between the States so ratifying the Same."
.
- That many Americans have ignored the Laws of God
Here is the 1st Amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..."
.
It gets better:
"I hope that's not where we're going, but you know if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies and saying my goodness what can we do to turn this country around? I'll tell you the first thing we need to do is take Harry Reid out."
.
"People ask me, 'What are you going to do to develop jobs in your state?' Well, that's not my job as a U.S. senator."
.
"The Federal Department of Education should be eliminated. The Department of Education is unconstitutional and should not be involved in education, at any level."
.
"I think that two wrongs don't make a right. And I have been in the situation of counseling young girls, not 13 but 15, who have had very at risk, difficult pregnancies. And my counsel was to look for some alternatives, which they did. And they found that they had made what was really a lemon situation into lemonade." - explaining why she is against abortion even in cases of rape or incest.
.
"You know, I'm a Christian and I believe that God has a plan and a purpose for each one of our lives and that he can intercede in all kinds of situations and we need to have a little faith in many things."
.
"Right now, we say in a traditional home one parent stays home with the children and the other provides the financial support for that family"
.
"I would tell you that I have the same feelings about legalizing marijuana, not medical marijuana, but just legalizing marijuana...I feel the same about legalizing alcohol. The effect on society is so great that I'm just not a real proponent of legalizing any drug or encouraging any drug abuse."
.
She has embraced Oath Keepers, whose membership of uniformed soldiers and police take an oath to refuse orders they see as unconstitutional -- including enforcement of gun laws, violations of states' sovereignty, and "any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps."
.
There are several Federal departments that are not covered by the Constitutional Federal enumerated powers clause and should be given back to the states per the Tenth amendment. Those cuts should include the Department of Education, Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, IRS code, audit the FED leading to cuts, National Endowment of the Arts, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, Planned Parenthood funding.
.
Earlier in her career, she spoke out strongly against fluoride, the substance known alternately for improving dental health and as a Communist plot to undermine Western democracy.
.
And these programs that you mentioned — that Obama has going with Reid and Pelosi pushing them forward — are all entitlement programs built to make government our God. And that’s really what’s happening in this country is a violation of the First Commandment. We have become a country entrenched in idolatry, and that idolatry is the dependency upon our government. We’re supposed to depend upon God for our protection and our provision and for our daily bread, not for our government.”

Obama Will Be Impeached

No white man ever had to show his birth certificate.
.
Jonathan Chait, of The New Republic, writes, "But if Obama wins a second term, the House will vote to impeach him before he leaves office."
.
I disagree with Mr. Chait on only one issue: If Republicans control the House, which looks like they will, they will not wait until a possible second term. The Republicans believe he will be defeated in '12, and they will resort to dirty tricks, like Nixon did. Not one Republican has denounced the Birthers. Those who have in the past, were defeated: Mike Castle and John McCain.
.
Republicans are winking at the Birthers, knowing they help in the long run.
.
Sarah Palin: "...I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue...I think it’s a fair question..."
.
Haley Barbour: "This is a president that we know less about than any other president in history." Does Barbour think the president is a natural-born citizen? "As far as I know."
.
Conservapedia.com: Barack Hussein Obama II (aka Barry Soetoro), said to have born in Honolulu August 4, 1961. Obama reportedly was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Barack Obama Sr. and Stanley Ann Dunham in 1961, however claims have been made he may have been born in Kenya.
.
If Republicans cannot get any traction with Joe Sestak, they'll find something else: "the bribery statute cited by Congressman Issa is, for reasons explained in my previous post, difficult to envision applying to this situation." The right wing crank site Canada Free Press, has a list of 50 impeachable offenses, all of it regurgitated drivel. GOP Representative Darrell Issa will find something from that list.
.
Here's Tom Tancredo, who pines for literacy tests: "Yes, Mr. Obama is a more serious threat to America than al Qaeda. We know that Osama bin Laden and followers want to kill us, but at least they are an outside force against whom we can offer our best defense. But when a dedicated enemy of the Constitution is working from the inside, we face a far more dangerous threat. Mr. Obama can accomplish with the stroke of his pen what bin Laden cannot accomplish with bombs and insurgents."
.
Seriously.

A Jewish Pogrom II

Part one is here.
.
The central tenet of Judaism is Tikkun Olam - תיקון עולם : It literally means "world repair."
.
Just as nihilists have given Islam a black eye, the Settlers and their politicians, funded by evangelicals, are giving Israel, Zionism and Judaism a black eye.
.
Courts have ruled certain neighborhoods in Jerusalem are Jewish only, and Arabs have been evicted from homes, so a Jewish family can live there. Evangelicals are cheering them on, both physically and financially. Why would evangelicals support a policy that would exclude them too? Simply, for two reasons: all of biblical Israel has to be populated by Jews, so their lord returns. Then, the Jews will perish and Christians, the rightful heirs, will live there forever. The second reason is practical. Christians want developments here in the States to be exclusively Christian, and they feel if it is established in Israel, it can happen in the States.
.
Which brings me to the latest: olive groves owned by Arabs have been destroyed again. The Washington Post, and the New York Times are reporting on the destruction. "...a few dozen trees had been chopped down, their branches hacked by vandals. In other groves belonging to this Palestinian village, there were scores of dead trees that had apparently been poisoned, with holes drilled in their trunks." As I wrote before, evangelicals egg on settlers, in the hope of sparking Armageddon. One of the worst is John Hagee, who is a closet anti-Semite.
.
This is not Judaism, and this is not Zionism. Because of what was done to us, does not give us license to do it in turn to others. Israel was founded by eastern European socialists, and the foundation of Israel are the kibbutzim.
.
Zionism is not a belief that Jewish people are superior to others, nor is it a belief that Arabs should be driven from Israel. It is not a belief that Israel should be exclusively populated by Jews. It does not mean non-Jews should not be welcomed in Israel.
.
Zionism, which was proposed by Theodore Herzl, is simply the belief that the only solution to constant persecution is a Jewish refuge, a Jewish homeland. Most people do not know that Joseph Stalin was sympathetic to Zionism, and offered a part of the Soviet Union as the world Jewish homeland and refuge. Fun fact: Stalin helped birth Israel. Truman was the first head of state to recognize Israel; Stalin was the second.
.
The latest in wrecking Ben Gurion's vision, is the loyalty oath. The majority of Israelis are secular, and the founders believed in a secular state. As the US has shown, what works best is separation of church and state, both for national character and economics.
.
Judaism does not have to be guarded and protected. Despite the past, we are still here. By being a beacon of dignity, we will thrive and be here in the future.

Asshole of the Week

So many assholes, so little time.
.
"Researchers announced Monday that they had injected stem cells into a patient with a spinal cord injury on Friday, kicking off the world's first clinical trial of a therapy derived from human embryonic stem cells."
.
And, like clockwork, we have a winner for this week's Asshole award: Bishop Elio Sgreccia. The bishop, who thinks this is 1950 or 1590, told Vatican Radio that the trials are unacceptable. He said that regardless of whether the result of testing is positive or negative, "morally it remains a crime."
.
"Looking at the results of embryonic stem cell testing, he said, it can be seen that, to date, the expected results have not been obtained. This, said Bishop Sgreccia, is due to the fact that embryonic stem cells are meant for the creation of a human being, not just other cells.
.
"In any case," he added, "in the remote possibility that there was a positive result, morally it remains a crime."
.
I just thought I would add this, from Martin Luther:
.
“On the Jews and Their Lies” is a 65,000-word treatise written by German Reformation leader Martin Luther in 1543. In the treatise, Luther writes that the Jews are a "base, whoring people, that is, no people of God, and their boast of lineage, circumcision, and law must be accounted as filth." Luther wrote that they are "full of the devil's feces ... which they wallow in like swine," and the synagogue is an "incorrigible whore and an evil slut". He argues that their synagogues and schools be set on fire, their prayer books destroyed, rabbis forbidden to preach, homes razed, and property and money confiscated. They should be shown no mercy or kindness, afforded no legal protection, and these "poisonous envenomed worms" should be drafted into forced labor or expelled for all time. He also advocates their murder, writing "we are at fault in not slaying them."
.
The prevailing scholarly view since the Second World War is that the treatise exercised a major and persistent influence on Germany's attitude toward its Jewish citizens in the centuries between the Reformation and the Holocaust.
.
Four hundred years after it was written, the Nazis displayed “On the Jews and Their Lies” during Nuremberg rallies, and the city of Nuremberg presented a first edition to Julius Streicher, editor of the Nazi newspaper Der Stürmer.
.
Just sayin'.

Legal Blood Money - Updated

I'm a photographer. Since the digital age, and shutting down my darkroom, the question of making prints has become a central topic of discussion, not just for myself, but for photographers and the public in general.
.
I bought a refurb HP 8750 on eBay, because HP claimed their Vivera dye inks had the longevity of pigments. Ha! The prints faded even in my portfolio case.
.
So, I had to decide what to do. As long as I was researching inkjet printers, I decided to research the cost of ink. I'm still reeling.
.
First, let's review conventional chemistry:
- One gallon of D-76 is $5.95
- One gallon of Kodak Fixer is $5.49
- 10 liters of C-41 developer is $27.50
- 5 gallons of C-41 fixer is $8.95
.
Now, let's calculate the cost of ink per gallon. Be sure you are sitting down, and have a bottle of Xanax handy.
.
Depending on the way calculations are made, that ink inside the plastic cartridge costs between $2,100 per gallon to $31,000 per gallon. Yes, you read that right. Here are some proportional costs:
- a $30 HP #45 black ink cartridge gives you 42ml, pricing out to $0.71/ml. Meanwhile, blood apparently costs $200 for 500ml from the Red Cross, pricing out to $0.40/ml.
- Which? stated that color HP cartridges cost over seven times more per milliliter than 1985 Dom Perignon
- the BBC made these calculations: the average cost of a color HP cartridge is £29. This works out to £1.70 per millilitre. 1985 Dom Perignon costs 23p per milliliter. There are 100 pence to one British pound. In other words, ink costs 7.4x more than Dom Perignon.
- from Mike Johnston's Online Photographer: makers essentially give you the printer and then charge you $3,785 per US gallon for ink (converted from the numbers provided by Ctein for the Epson 2880 ink price from Atlex at a price of $1 per ml). OPEC has got nothing over Epson. 2880 ink sells for approximately $159,000 per barrel (US petroleum).
.
What's inside of that plastic shell that makes it more expensive than platinum? Primarily, water. Water makes up approximately 90 percent of the contents. Catalytic converters use platinum, palladium and rhodium, and are proportionately less expensive than ink.
.
I googled an industry insider: "As an industry expert, I can tell you that the ink in a typical desktop printer cartridge costs the manufacturer from about one cent to a maximum of 25 cents. (Virtually all inkjet ink is purchased from independent ink manufacturers.)" The main article is, Why I've given up on the world's most expensive fluid.
.
I have decided to buy enlargements from a lab. Kodak Endura and Ilford silver halide will last longer, and look better, than an inkjet. After test prints, ink and ink waste, they will also cost substantially less.
.
You can take that to the bank.
.
Update:
Mike Johnston has another column on inkjet ink costs. Highly recommended.

Lab Rat Has Chantix Psychosis

GREENWICH VILLAGE - R7511A, a lab rat at New York University, had Chantix psychosis. Before the clinical trials were brought to an end, the rat, renamed Snickers, committed suicide.
.
The head of smoking cessation product testing, Dr. Josef Mengele, spoke about the rat in a hushed tone. "We noticed extreme mood swings, alternating between euphoria and bottomless depression," he said. "We of course, made the decision to continue the trial in the interest of science. No one here ever thought it would end so tragically."
.
"Snickers would spend hours spinning his wheel after being given a proportional dose of Chantix. Then, he would curl up in a fetal position in a corner of the cage for almost 24 hours. He would get up, take a drink from his bottle, use the smoking machine, and go back to the fetal position for another 24 hours. Finally, he wandered aimlessly around the cage, looking confused."
.
"This was repeated every time we gave him another Chantix dose. We truly thought the behavioral side effects of the drug would be quantified, then published, and Snickers could go to a wholesome home with one of the students. There was never any sign he would hang himself. We are as shocked and saddened as the animal rights people. Peta has already started picketing."
.
"Pfizer has already called me, to ask that this suicide be kept quiet," Dr. Mengele continued. "I told him it would be unethical for me to do so, especially if this placed the general public at risk. In fact, I recommended this be placed on the list of side effects. The Pfizer rep hung up on me."
.
Dr. Mengele then gestured to the marijuana plants lining his office. "We're getting much better results with cannabis," he said. "And the students and lab rats are finding the clinical trials are a blast. Peta should really look into this. I can tell you there is a two-year waiting list for my classes. I'm thinking of having a lottery to attend my lectures."
.
"I've never seen happier animals in my life," he concluded.

Westboro and Phelps

First, let me state that Phelps and his inbred klan are vermin. They managed to become bipedal, but they are still vermin.
.
I wish that someone terminal and impecunious would open fire with an AR15.
.
In the meantime, I say fight fire with fire. They scream 1st Amendment. I say give them a good taste of that. Go to one of their demonstrations and drown them out. When Phelps drops dead, which he will soon, give his funeral a taste of the South Korean border. And I would keep it up in front of their church, like Ted Haggard drove non-Christians out of Colorado Springs.
.
They carry signs cursing Jews. Go to their demonstration, take one of their bibles, tear it up in front of them, and then piss on it. And the angrier they get, the more of their bibles should be trashed. Same sex couples should make out in front of them, and drive them into a frenzy.
.
That's a lot more satisfying than suing them, and the reaction is immediate instead of waiting for a court judgement. It's protected by the 1st Amendment, too.
.
Something to consider: they are clearly inbred, and they are an example of institutional clinical insanity.
.
What's the difference between Fred Phelps and a reptile?

One is hatched from eggs, eats insects and sleeps under a rock.

The other is a reptile.

Shondeh of the Week

An Open Letter  is here.
.
This week's award goes to Eric Cantor, the only Jewish Republican in the entire Congress. Ever wonder why? Ever wonder why momzers like the neocons are a tiny minority? Ever wonder why conservatism and Judaism are mutually exclusive, despite the claims of the neocon momzers - who are mostly beneficiaries of affirmative action for the wealthy? Ever wonder why the neocons' biggest cheerleaders are evangelicals, and not Jews?
.
Michelle Malkin and her neocon husband live in Colorado Springs, the evangelical Vatican. The Springs is where Ted Haggard - remember him? - and his New Life church harassed non-Christians so viciously that at least ten sold their homes, and moved away. They live among evangelicals, rather than Jews. Crazy, no?
.
Speaking of Michelle Malkin, she is one of those conservatives who wants to nullify the 14th Amendment. She constantly uses the pejorative "anchor babies." Irony alert: she was an anchor baby, as was Piyush Amrit Bobby Jindal, who also speaks derisively about babies born here to non-citizens. Michelle and Bobby were born here to non-citizen students. This gets better: according to conservatives, Bobby Jindal can never be president or vice president. Neocons like that (oy!) meshuggener/shandeh/momzer/dentist/real-estate agent/lawyer (whew!) Orly Taitz have "discovered" that a president, and president only, must be born to two citizen parents. That's a complete fabrication, but conservatives' stock-in-trade is fabrication, like the straight face claim that slavery was the result of liberalism. You can't make this stuff up.
.
Glenn Beck is the latest conservative to make this fatuous claim.
.
Here's the icing on the cake: Eric Cantor said, in a Wall Street Journal interview, he believes the American-Jewish community is overwhelmingly Democratic because Jews "are prone to want to help the underdog." That's exactly correct.
.
Cantor said it in a way that implies an intrinsic desire to help the underdog is naïve , and a waste of resources. That is the epitome of conservatism.
.
Note to Cantor and the rest of the nogoodnik neocons: the central tenet of Judaism is Tikkun Olam - תיקון עולם. It literally means 'world repair' - social action and the pursuit of social justice, and it is the antithesis of conservatism.
.
That's why Cantor is the only Jewish Republican in Congress. It may be a mystery to him, but not to progressives, both Jewish and non-Jewish.

Philadelphia Zoo

Some people have asked what equipment I use. My first camera was a Pentax Spotmatic. When I bought my first dSLR, Olympus had the only dustbuster in the entire marketplace, and so I switched systems. Remember though, if a photographer cannot nail it with a box camera, then it's not the camera.

You are not me.
I am not a pathological liar.
I believe in evolution.
I believe there is a scientific explanation for everything.
I am not a grifter.
I do not believe in repression of any kind.
I believe in reproductive freedom.
I am not making America a laughingstock.

O'Donnell - Turning Up the Crazy

Just when you think things could not get any crazier, O'Donnell proves everyone wrong. The first line of it? "I'm not a witch." Seriously!

OK Christine, repeat after me:

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.

Once you have that part memorized, you can learn the rest of the spell. I'm not giving it to you all at once, because I don't want to overtax your ability to absorb. Oh, alright:

In the poison'd entrails throw -
Toad, that under cold stone,
Days and nights has thirty-one;
Swelter'd venom sleeping got,
Boil thou first i' the charmed pot!

That's all for today, Christine. Come back tomorrow, for the next lesson. And don't masturbate tonight!

Philadelphia Zoo

Instead of my usual ultra left wing musings, I went to the zoo. The Philadelphia Zoo is the nation's oldest zoological garden. You can click on the photograph for a close-up. More to follow.
